SART Advisory Board Meeting Scheduled
The next Florida SART Advisory Board meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 1st at the Florida Farm Bureau building in Gainesville. It isn’t too early to mark your calendars and plan to attend. This session will build on the initiatives of the March 3rd Advisory Board meeting.
NASAAEP Opens to New Members
A dedicated group of responders and individuals representing many states and agencies has worked for years to develop NASAAEP, the National Alliance of State Animal and Agricultural Emergency Programs. Dedicated to building a cohesive national response network, NASAAEP is now accepting membership applications from groups and individuals for 2010. A brief summary of the organization’s goals is included in this issue of the Sentinel as well as a link to their membership form.
Man's Best Friend
And of course we mean “man” in the very broadest and generic sense of mankind, for this issue of the Sentinel offers a unique look at a partnership between “man” and his [or her] best friend…and it is written for us by search and rescue professional Pat Simmons and her partner Pete, both of Southeast K9 Search and Rescue, Inc. in Tallahassee.
AWR-154: Principles of National Incident Management
Several courses remain in the FDACS/Office of Agricultural Emergency Preparedness partnership with the Western Institute for Food Safety & Security to bring DHS Certified Agroterrorism Courses to Florida. Courses are free and lunch is provided. Additional sponsoring partners include UF’s IFAS-Extension, the Florida Department of Health and the Regional Domestic Security Task Forces.
