AWR-154 Principles of National Incident Management Systems (NIMS), Team Building, and Risk Communication
AWR-154 is a DHS Certified Agroterrorism Course provided free of charge with lunch by the Western Institute of Food Safety and Security in partnership with the Florida Dept of Agriculture & Cons. Svs. This training is designed to show how NIMS improves coordination among responders in an agroterrorism event. This type of event will be different from other disasters, so it is important that response agencies ensure a smooth implementation into NIMS. Team building and risk communication will be presented as key components of a fully functional NIMS.
- Core concepts of the ICS, NIMS, and risk communication, weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and methods of dissemination
- NIMS as an all-hazards, and comprehensive approach to collaborative incident management.
- Using ICS to coordinate the efforts of multiple agencies
- Basic principles of interagency teamwork, communication, and conflict management
- Understanding of the importance of effective internal and external communications
