| 8:00AM - 4:00PM | Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Training This 2-day training course is designed to increase the percentage of successful rescue efforts through education, and decrease the number of animal related disasters, and improve preparedness and prevention.Using classroom lecture, demonstrations and hands on practical exercises with live animals covering the techniques, protocols, and tactics needed, the students will learn to work together to solve animal related emergencies on land, water and roadways. Horse and cattle behavior in normal and rescue circumstances, critical medical conditions, response to stress, animal containment, field euthanasia protocols, disaster prevention, role of the veterinarians, livestock trailer wrecks, fire scenarios, water and ground rescues, decontamination of animals from agro terrorism, disaster preparedness and physical manipulation methods, rescue equipment, extrication and demonstrations are just a few of the topics to be covered in this course. Everyday horses and large animals are transported on the roadways in Florida. A vehicle transport blows a tire, overturns and blocks roadways. People and animals can be injured. It is a necessity to be prepared if a major flood occurs or a wildfire to protect and move livestock. Sinkholes, septic tanks and pools can all be hazards for large animals in Florida. Continuing Education Credit hours will be given through Daytona State College School of Emergency Services. |
