Our SART partner for large animal rescue is the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. Through this partnership, SART created the Large Animal Technical Rescue training course. This training is state-certified by the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Although this class is available to any interested person, it is designed for law enforcement, fire/rescue, and/or animal control officers to train as a six (6) member single response team unit. The Large Animal Technical Rescue team is not a medical team. The team is trained in proper techniques to capture and remove large animals from hazardous situations. Trainees are taught how to use large animal slings, lifts and slides, and proper knotting procedures.
