Operation Bovine Reclamation
Operation Bovine Reclamation Full-Scale Exercise is an exercise sponsored by FDACS and DHS under DHS Regional Exercise Support Program. The exercise will provide th opportunity for responders in Polk and Hillsborough Counties and selected personnel and teams from FDACS to exercise emergency response plans, policies and procedures.
The 6-hour exercise will focus primarily on preparing local agency personnel and select state personnel to effectively work together to solve an agro-terror incident.
Exercise director is Capt. Keith Ray, Polk County Sheriff's Office (see below).

Basic Animal Emergency Services


Who should attend? Anyone interested in the welfare of animals during and after
a disaster, professionals trained in disaster response, emergency medical
services personnel, firefighters, animal shelter staff, animal control officers,
veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and animal handlers/trainers.



Day One topics
include:
Introduction to national disaster response, Human-animal bond, Federal
mandate, Activation process, Components of disaster response, Safety, Incident
Command System, Communication, Managing volunteers, Small animal behavior and
handling, Behavior and handling as it relates to capture and sheltering in a
disaster, Large animal behavior and handling, Behavior and handling as it
relates to capture and sheltering in a disaster.



Day Two topics
include:
Shelter operations, Safety, Components of setup, Roles and
responsibilities, Field operations, Animal triage, Mock shelter setup and
response.



Objectives: Learn
about disaster response and how to care for and shelter animals during times of
disaster, whether at the local or national level.



Note: This class
is a requirement for becoming an official American Humane Association Red Star
Animal Emergency Services volunteer. Cost of class is $180.
