| 8:00AM - 5:00PM | ***NOTE*** If interested in course, please contact Dr. Greg Christy to obtain a registration form and see if funding is available to pay for your course fee. ------------------------------------------------------------ Course Overview: I-200 is a 10-12 hour course which consists of the completion of modules 2-6 of the ICS series. Basic ICS introduces students to the principles associated with the Incident Command System. It covers organization, facilities, resource terminology and the common responsibilities and general instructions associated with incident or event assignments. The classroom portion of Modules 2-6 will be taught from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day, and a review and final exam will be given the morning of the second day. Special arrangements can be made to take the exam the evening of the first day. Prerequisite: I-100, the ICS Orientation self-paced study course is module 1 of the ICS series. This workbook will be mailed to registrants for completion as pre-work for the I-200 course. Course Standards: For successful completion a minimum score of 80% must be obtained on the final exam. Cost: $75.00 (meals & lodging extra) Module 2: Principles & Features of ICS Describes the principal features, which constitute the ICS. Collectively, these features identify the unique quality of the ICS as an incident or event management system. Features are: five primary functions, management by objectives, unity and chain of command, transfer of command, organizational flexibility, unified command, span of control, common terminology, personnel accountability, integrated communications, resources management, and the incident action plan. Module 3: Organizational overview Provides an introduction to terminology, organizational structure, how the organization initially develops at an incident, how the organization expands or contracts, transfer of command. Module 4: Incident Facilities Describes the principal facilities used in conjunction with ICS and discusses their roles at an incident. Six incident facilities are discussed: command post, staging area, base, camp, helibase, and helispot. Module 5: Incident Resources Provides an introduction to the resource status keeping function. The following subjects are covered: the kinds of resources often used, why resource status keeping is important, examples of how resources are typed, three ways of using resources at an incident, resource status conditions, changing and maintaining status on resources. Module 6: Common Responsibilities Provides students with information on what they need to know and do following assignment to an incident. This module covers actions: prior to an incident, at incident check-in, while working at the incident, during demobilization. |
