Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class - LVL 1 - SUNDAY, MAR 5th, 2023 @ UF/IFAS Ext., Collier County


UF/IFAS, SPCA Florida and Florida State Animal Response Coalition would like to offer you an opportunity to take the Awareness Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering class.


When disaster strikes, our team of trained volunteer responders will be there to shelter and protect Florida's companion animals.

This Awareness Level (Level 1) class will give you the knowledge and skills you need to work in an emergency animal shelter or pet-friendly shelter. It will give you the expertise and practical experience required to become a emergency animal responder. The Awareness Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering class is certified by the Florida Department of Emergency Management and is required to respond in Florida to help companion animals during a disaster.


There is a $35 administration fee for each participant. However, use the promo code SART and your registration is FREE! 


After successful completion of this class you will receive a complimentary Florida SARC uniform t-shirt. Choose your shirt size on the registration page. You may also order additional shirts for $15 each on the registration page.

Small Animal Emergency Sheltering

Operations Level (Level 2)


at UF/IFAS Extension Collier County


Two days, eight hours each day, from 8:00AM to 5:00PM (EDT)

Monday and Tuesday, March 6th and 7th, 2023


Join UF/IFAs Extension, Florida State Agricultural Response Team and Florida State Animal Response Coalition for the Operations Level Class. The class is two, 8-hour days of intense and fun workshops where you and a team of colleagues will work on various projects related to the operations of emergency animal shelters.


Operations level will help qualify you for new roles during a disaster including possible Team Lead roles. This class expands on the learnings of the Level 1 course and challenges experienced shelter staff with interesting scenarios of emergency sheltering during a disaster.


This class is funded through a grant from the Florida State Agriculture Response Team. Enter SART in the promo code field to attend this class for free!


PREREQUISITES REQUIRED TO TAKE THIS CLASS:


  • Successfully completed FL SARC Awareness Level (Level 1) Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Course
  • Completion of FEMA ICS-100 (current version). Go to https://training.fema.gov if you need the latest course certificate and training.
  • 18 years of age

Whole Community Incident Command System Training

Join Extension educators and community volunteers to learn new skills to help others in disasters!

A Whole Community Incident Command System training will be hosted by Florida A&M University Cooperative Extension in conjunction with Mississippi State Extension. 

 

The program will be three days of classroom instruction from 8:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. each day. Classes will be on Tuesday March 21, Wednesday March 22, and Thursday March 23, 2023.

 

Morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch will be served each day. There is no charge for this training, thanks to EDEN programming efforts and cost reimbursement from USDA NIFA.
