Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals

A two-day, interactive workshop June 4-5, 2011 9am to 5pm





Hosted by: Maddie's Shelter Medicine Program , College of Veterinary Medicine , Gainesville, FL 32610





Disaster Sheltering for Companion Animals is designed to
help communities of any size actively and formally prepare for disasters
affecting both animals and humans. Natural or manmade disasters can strike at
any time, and depending on their scope and severity, the local community needs
to be equipped to handle the resulting influx of dogs, cats and other small
companion animals.



Cost: $115 American Humane Members/ $135 for
Non-Members

Registration is limited to 60 participants

both days

AWR-156 Principles of Planning and Implementing Recovery
This is a DHS Certified Agroterrorism Course offered free of charge. The goal of this course is to provide the fundamental framework for orchestrating the recovery from an incident of agroterrorism.  The course will cover the four critical factors for success in a community recovery effort and be able to apply them in a hypothetical crisis.  Identification of the components of a recovery plan targeted at minimizing the economic impact to the community and its citizens; and the identification of community resources and assets available for building partnerships and teams will be covered.
