Florida SARC Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Course - Level 1 - Awareness Share by email
Join Florida SARC and our partners at Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue for our Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Awareness Course (Level 1)! When hurricanes, floods, wildfires, or other disasters strike, trained volunteers play a critical role in keeping people and their pets together. This FEMA-approved, FDEM-certified course provides an introduction to emergency animal sheltering and is the perfect first step toward becoming a disaster response volunteer. This Level 1 Awareness course will teach the basics of temporary emergency animal shelter operations. Topics covered include: Disaster Life Cycle, Preparing for Deployment, Setting Up a Shelter, Animal Behavior, Disease and Infection, Cleaning and Disinfection, Shelter Breakdown, and Returning from Deployment. Completion of the course will allow you to register as a potential volunteer for the Florida State Animal Response Coalition.
